I am a Canadian planning on a trip to the US, probably for about two weeks. I am healthy and do not have any concerns except about getting hit by a car. The problem is I don’t have enough money even for basic travel health insurance (usually at least $25 a day cost). Now if a person gets hit by a car who is uninsured, and the driver is at fault, would the driver’s insurance company pay those costs? Are all drivers required to have insurance?
Most states require drivers to have car insurance, but still an estimated 1 in 7 drivers nationwide are uninsured. If the driver is adequately insured, then the insurance company would pay the medical costs of injured parties up to the amount the driver is insured for. The problem is that some people only carry the bare minimum insurance coverage, which would not come close to covering your medical costs if you got hit by their vehicle.
It’s an older model car and I’m 19.
One of my friends pay
I have a friend who has state farm and pays 100 a month.
Also believe it or not I have another friend who got insurance under her parents insurance company and she got a discount for it.. She is under Progressive and pay 50 dollars a month. I’m a male and I can only dream of my insurance being $50. That isn’t going to happen.
Is that all state?
You should put the car in your parent’s name and then pay that insurance. I was able to get $60 a month on a van when I had my first car that way.
Is this true, that if all paperwork and agreements are met. And you fulfill your end of the bargain, that insurance companies have a certain time frame so they can`t leave a family out of home for so long?
On some policy`s i was told it stated the insurance company would have to pay 3 times the amount of the policy, should they overstep thier boundries!
Insurance companies have to be play by the book, and if they don’t they usually get sued. If you have been put out for an extended period seek a lawyer to help with the issues. I think you would have to sue to get the three times the amount. Good luck.
My uncle was involved in a bar fight and now may get sued by the people that he was in the fight with. He is scared of losing his home but has homeowners insurance that covers lawsuits, but I think it is if someone gets hurt at his home. Does insurance cover lawsuits that occurred outside your home?
Since those other answers were not by the usual suspects here and they are wrong, I figured I would answer.
Many homeowners policies will cover actions that occur off premises. That being said, a barroom brawl will br construed as both an illegal act and a voluntary act (especially if they can prove that he started the fight). Either of these may result in coverage being questioned. I represent carriers who would cover this and others who would not; I have actually seen very similar circumstances go both way.
He needs to call his insurance agent and discuss with them. There are a lot of variables here; carrier, type of policy, state of residence etc. If he doesn’t have an agent and bought his insurance online, then he can only call an 800 number and get a questionable response.
I might get a Honda Prelude or a Honda Civic and a prelude is more sportish than a civic. But how much would it cost for car insurance per month for either cars ?
As a teen driver, you need to get at least 3 Car Insurance quotes. JD Powers ranks the top-10 car insurance companies and one of the criteria is price. So check the top-10 list and start making calls or going online for quotes. I’ve posted the Car Insurance Ratings below.
I can’t afford my home insurance because of severe water damage that caused my insurance premium to go up. I need to file bankruptcy for my bills & I am ready to go into foreclosure because I am on unemployment. I hear that if you don’t pay your home insurance your mortgage company buys home insurance for you at a higher price, forcing you to pay it within your mortgage. What happens if my home goes into foreclosure and I file bankruptcy? Will I still owe my home insurance? Thanks.
Most likely a bankruptcy will discharge that debt. However, to be sure you should consult with an attorney. Nearly all consumer bankruptcy attorneys offer free consultations. Take advantage of this to meet with one and get advice based on all of the details of your particular situation. You can find a referral at NACBA.org (National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys).
